C7000-100NAS not Performing At Speed
I needed to upgrade Spectrum service to their Ultra, 400mbps. After doing so, I could not get that with either my 5mHz nor through a 6e patch cord onto either a Dell Laptop nor my Pixel phone, I had them send a technician out. He spent a good amount of time at my house (~2 hours). He was able to demontrate on his gear (eliminating the Netgear modem/router) slightly under 400mbps on his cell phone and the raw speed at the copper tip of the RG6 at over 1gig on his test gear...
I can't get even 100 mbps hardwired or on the 5gHz wifi through the Netgear even though the settings are for "up to 1.3Gbps".
WHAT do I need to change?
He suggested there might be something in the cable modem I could set to improve throughput. I've looked with no clear and obvious solution. He mentioned his own A1900 modem of a different brand merges two 20MhZ channels into one 40mHz pipe, and he routinely sees speedtest.net giving over 350mbps.
I have done a factory reset, and verified the modem has the latest firmware (1.01.32). I am surprised at the difference between 2.4 and 5 mHz throughputs, but that is an indication of my own ignorance. Soooo, sure like to get a boost with my Netgear cable modem. Any suggestions, please!?

1. There is definitely a different from 2.4ghz to 5ghz. 2.4ghz is much much slower and more suseptible to interference
2. What speeds do you get hardwired into the c7000? Its a bit pointless to try to get wireless faster than what its getting wired
3. What device you're testing on is important. A 1x1 antenna devices isn't going to have the same speeds as a 2x2.

Hardwired into the router with a cat7 patch cable my Dell Laptop gets around 50 mbps down and 20 up. Using my Pixel phone with data turned off, speedtest.net gives the same two values with some small variations.

If hardwired in you're only getting 50mbps/20mbps, then its either the provisioning, the line running to it, or the modem itself.
It'd be pointless to work on the wireless if the router's only getting those speeds hardwired.
do you have a screen snip of your cable connections page?
And the logs?

Bought C7000 3 years ago and been satisfied with 200mbps. But when I upgraded my ISP to 400mbps, I couldn't see the difference. (NOTE: This Nighthawk AC1900 Cable Modem Router 24x8 channel bonding is rated up to 960Mbps). BestBuy Black Friday 2020 is currently selling the unit for $189.00.
I had Spectrum tech troubleshoot it and he says the modem/router is not capable of handling that speed. He was able to verify that Spectrum is sending 400Mbps using their hardware. He wanted me rent theirs to get the 400 mbps which of course I said no.
And so, that is where I need help🤭😅
1.) Is it true that this unit cannot handle 400Mbps?
2.) What is the difference between the 2017 and 2020 edition?🤔 (BestBuy is currently selling the same unit that I bought from 2017).3.) How do I make this unit work with 400Mbps?
Thanks all, I would really appreciate any help or tips🙂
