       If your configuration/settings are corrupt, the a full ("factory")
    reset may help.  If the actual firmware is bad on a cable modem, then
    you may need to contact your ISP, because they control that.

      Yes I have done  many resets to the factory settings and that is where the problem is noticable.  It now has the Genie that guides you through changing the password and security questions.  It guides you thru this and when finished, some of the words are only half there but all of the basic and advanced functions seem to work fine. In advanced it seems to see all four LAN.  I have  changed them from auto to manual and still  only number 2 LAN is working.  I know this looks like a simple hardware problem but it happened after the last firmware push.  According to NetGear the latest version of firmware that Comcast should have pushed is Ver. 3.01.16  but it has Ver. 3.01.17 installed.  Why don't they trust us with the firmware after the ISP has approved it?  I wish I could take it back to a version prior to the Genie.
