How to make a cable modem into a router

Hi, I have recently purchased a second C6300BD-1TLAUS cable modem/router and I am wanting to use it as a router. Can this be done ? if so how do I make this happen both from a wiring perspective and from configuring it on the computer. Thanks.

  • Unfortunately, the C6300 is not suitable for use only as a router.  Return it, purchase a regular Wi-Fi router and connect it to your first C6300.  Then log onto your first C6300, go to ADVANCED > Administration > Router Mode and disable Router Mode.  This will put it into bridge mode and allow your router to take over.
