NETGEAR XR500 Internet setup with xfinity

Hi,

I am trying to get help with setting up my internet connection.

Basically, I have my Netgear C6300 cable modem router - Docsis 3.0 set to router mode so that it is only a modem. And I also have my Netgear nighthawk XR500 pro gaming router. The nighthawk is connected to the C6300 via ethernet cable. and the C6300 is connected via coaxial cable into the wall.

I am having an issue connecting to the internet. I also can't pull up routerlogin.net on my PC either which is what I am trying to connect all of this to so that I can do my gaming. These are not new products. The issue I was having is that I was using double NAT by having my C6300 connected not in router mode(so it was a modem plus a router), and I was also using my nighthawk at the same time causing constant latency/lag spikes while gaming. So I am going to see if this will help, but I can't seem to set it up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    1. did you put the C6300 in modem only mode?

    2. once put in that mode and its rebooted, power off the XR500 and the C6300.

    3. A factory reset of the XR500 might not hurt during setup but you could try doing it as is.

    4. power on the C6300 with nothing but coax connected. Let it boot several minutes.

    5. connect lan cable from c6300 to wan port on XR500.

    6. power on the xr500. give it a few minutes

    7. try running setup, internet connection
