Is it possible to set up the CM700 modem without an ethernet cable? Neither of my Mac computers have an ethernet cord. Help!

The CM700 User manual says no. (Visit http://netgear.com/support ,
put in your model number, and look for Documentation. Get the User
Manual.)
During the installation and activation, you must connect the cable
modem directly to a computer.
And, the CM700 is only a modem, not a modem+router, so it has no
wireless capability on its own, only that Ethernet port.

You need older Macs or more Ethernet adapters. Or, a friend/victim
who will provide you with an Ethernet-equipped computer (with any OS)
for a while.

What about connecting it do a router with an ethernet port? Could the modem be addressed through the router?

You could run the experiment. I haven't, so I can't guarantee
failure, but I wouldn't bet on it working. It all depends on the
details of what the modem expects from the connected device, and the
environment it provides. About all of which I know nothing.

Re: Possible to connect CM700 cable modem on a Mac without an ethernet cable?
Thanks for the help. I solved the problem. It turns out that my desktop Mac has an ethernet port and I hauled it down to the living room floor and now I am up and running.
Appreciate the suggestions.
