how to set up network name on a cm1150v cable modem
Hi, i had to pull an old modem off my shelf and it is working with xfinity but i don't see where/how to name my network. any help would be much appreciated - wouldn't think it's this tough but the modem menus don't show where to do it. what am i missing?

The CM1150V isn't a router. Its a modem only device.
It doesn't have a network name or anything like that.
If you're computer is naming it something, that's coming from windows active network profile. You'd have to change that in windows. If that's what you're refering to.

Why? Do you have something else that failed?
If that is what delivered your "network" – the wifi stuff – then, as plemans says, the cm1150v is cable modem with voice. No router or wifi. You may be able to use that as the front end of whatever else you have. Tell us what that is any you might get more help.
While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.
When it comes to the cm1150v, you might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
