Softether VPN Server help
I've got the softether VPN server running and I can connect to the VPN no problem, I can then see and broswe directly to my computers connected to that network, but I cannot see nor access the ReadyNas. Am I missing a step somehwere? I can ping the NAS, but I cannot seem to actually browse or access my shares on the NAS.
Anyone have any thoughts?
Thank you,
Mark

- XxX_Cobra_XxXAspirantI have the same problem with by ReadyNAS RN 104
- olestGuideFor that to work you to make a tap interface and enable securenat. Then you can access the virtual ip on the tap interface through the vpn.
Sendt fra min GT-I9300 med Tapatalk2 - XxX_Cobra_XxXAspirantWhat do you mean with 'make a tap interface'?
How to do that?
Thanks - stealthiusAspirantHas anyone been able to achieve this? As Olest said you have to create a TAP interface, i did that, still unable to connect to the readynas itself. All other IP addresses within the network are accessible correctly.
I have tried this with 1 single TAP device in Local Bridge settings
I have tried this with 1 TAP device and 1 Eth adapter in Local Bridge settings.
Both times used SecureNAT configuration. both results were the same, everything accessible on the network but NOT anything hosted on the readynas. I tried connecting to the Actual IP address of my readynas and the IP address of the SecureNAT interface. Still no go.
What am i missing here or doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am using the latest VPN server version 1.3.0
P.S I did read the following article by Softether in the troubleshooting section:
=================
11.1.2 I am unable to communicate with the IP address of the Virtual Network Adapter used for local bridging from within the VPN.
if you are using Linux or Solaris, you can communicate within the Virtual Hub (VPN) from the network adapter connected to by the local bridge to the LAN, but you can not communicate to the network adapter itself. This is a restriction imposed by the Linux kernel. For more information please refer to 3.6 Local Bridges.
===================
So that would make sense why it is not working, and i do understand the use of the TAP device to work around this, but how?
Thank you - Any update on this? Were you able to get it to work?
- I have it all setup and can access everything on my network, even the readynas. I have it setup as follows. Vitual Hub uses the second network card on the NAS which is listed on the "Local Bridge Settings" under "Network Adapter or Tap Device Name" eth1, eth0 is the primary network card with an ip on the same subnet as the everything else on your network, for example your nas would be eth0=192.168.0.150, a network printer 192.168.0.80, your router 192.168.0.1. Believe it or not, but you must give the eth1 (second NIC) an ip that is not on your subnet, mine is (192.168.3.2, router settings on that nic 192.168.3.1, DNS 8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) and have a cable plugged in on that (eth1) NIC and into your switch/router whatever you use. Trust me it sounds crazy but it does not conflict with anything (strangely enough) but it works.
ON the "Local Bridge Settings" Your Virtual Hub would say on "Network Adapter or Tap Device Name" eth1, then further down
"Type to Create" = radio button "Bridge with Physical Existing Network Adapter" under that
"Select the Ethernet device (network adapter) for the bridge destination and select eth0
Then, under "Manage Virtual Hub" (you must create users and give them passwords of course)
It seems there is hundreds of settings I can not mention here, but feel free to ask. What I have mentioned above is I think the answer to the question. I have users that can connect securely to my Home network where my VPN is running on. I have just checked, I have full access to my vpn and my readynas from my iphone over 3G.
