Photos II v1.0.5 reports, after 1st install, it's status as Not Registered. The ? description is:
If I run Diagnose I receive the following results:
Public Access URL:not available
Initially the NAS wasn't opening the forwarding port via UPNP with my Netgear WNDR3700 (V1.0.16.98-dnsNA), so I've created the port forwarding rule on 8086 on the router and checked "Disable auto configuration of UPnP capable router."
Checking hostname availability always returns the message below, no matter what name is entered. My preference is to use "FatMan"
I feel like I must be missing something obvious.
Server registration process failed. This could be either bad hostname specified or communication error. Please check if your host name for webhop is valid
If I run Diagnose I receive the following results:
Error: Cannot reolve hostname (photos.readynas.com). Please check your WAN connection.

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAre your settings under Network in Frontview correct? Particularly DNS and Gateway settings?
If you have email alerts configured do you receive them?
Does checking for a firmware update via System > Update in Frontview work fine? - SupeRavenAspirantThe gateway was correct, but DNS was completely missing. I was using manual settings, but configuration for DNS was locked out under Global Settings. I made a DHCP reservation for the NAS and changed the NAS to use DHCP. After that DNS was configured and solve the problem.
Thanks for the direction.
