Compatible RAM upgrade RND4000v2 NV+

Compatible RAM upgrade RND4000v2 NV+

Could someone please point me towards a sensible memory upgrade list for this unit, or what the max (precise model number) RAM stick is that I could fit?  Thanks.

I'd like to do the same for my Duo - RND2000 v1

I know for compatibility I could just look at what's inside already but I'd like to know if the units are able to benefit from slightly newer, maybe faster RAM (and if it would be 100% compatible).

The NV+v2 (which all run 5.3.x firmware) has the memory soldered onto the system board.  So the RAM can't be upgraded.

The v1s can be finicky about memory, and they use DDR (not even DDR2).   DDR hasn't been manufactured for many years now (DDR2 came out in 2003), so this could be hard to find (and almost certainly would be used).

There is an old post here that could help: https://fredriklofter.com/tag/readynas-duo-ram-upgrade/

But the link there was for the old ReadyNAS forum, which was taken down long ago.  You can get some information still from wayback, but many of the posts were never captured there.  https://web.archive.org/web/20131108051935/http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=110

Or start by looking at the RAM in your Duo, and try to find larger modules that have the same specs.

FWIW, I won't go down this path with my old Duo (or NV+ v1).  I'll run them as secondary backups as long as they work, but I won't invest any money (or a lot of time) in them.  They were good in their day, and certainly have been reliable.  But they don't have the capacity or the speed I need today.
