Detected increasing uncorrectable error count - Not in logs, only email notification.

ReadyNAS 104 6.10.8

I am getting email notifications denoting: "Detecting increasing uncorrectable error count" but it is not showing up in the logs.

Why not in the logs?  Did I make a mistake in a setting or something?

Also, when this happens, is there a rule of thumb for how long before failure or when I should replace the drive?

Peace

Bruce

Update....  still no resolution.

In System/Settings/ Alerts.... all Alert Events are checked... However, Disk Failure and Volume are greyed out.  Really odd.  There is a check there in both, but the labels are greyed out and I can't uncheck them.

Any ideas?

Under System/Volumes... I can click on each 2TB drive (have four) and each denotes ONLINE with a green light.  Only thing is clicking on disk 1 is a bit slow to get the pop up.   That is the drive that the email denoted with uncorrectable error count.  I wonder if it is preventing this stuff.

Peace

Bruce

Have you tried downloading the log zip file, and checking disk_info.log?

If you are comfortable with ssh, you can also run smartctl.

THank you for that....

The disk_info log shows that disk 1 has uncorrectable sector count of 296.  The other three disks show 0.   This is what was in the email the NAS sent to me.  So there is consistency.... but why doesn't this show up in the logs page?  This is important.

I agree, and would certainly replace the disk.
