Managing a ReadyNAS after ReadyCloud is gone
I've seen a few posts about ReadyCloud alternatives, but most seem to be focused on accessing shares remotely. I don't need to access the shares, but I do need to be able to access the NAS GUI to do ...

Not relevant for your NAS, that is a workaround for systems that run 4.x and 5.x firmware. Not for 6.x.

tried current Chrome current Edge on up to date W10, tried FFox on W7, getting a progress stripe for maybe 60 secs or so, then get the message 'Ready NAS Admin page is offline', NAS is online, can access files/folders via network folder share
I suspect you will see precisely the same behavior with ReadyCloud. It's not about your browser.
Try rebooting the NAS.

thanks very much! not very familar with different version, so I thought that was my issue...
hmmm... this was originally a RN31400 with 3 SATA HDDs, it failed few weeks ago, they thought it was a power supply maybe not providing amps, as voltage was OK, replaced power supply, same issue: on power up LCD lights up, but, after maybe few seconds LCD goes off, unit shuts down.
couldn't find identical RN31400 unit, came across a RN10400 unit, took a punt it should work...plugged the 3 drives, powered on, unit powered up, hooked to LAN, \\NAS-01 visible, all shares working as before, all seems OK - EXCEPT, different IP (192.168.0.37/38 (I think it was different before - not sure?))
wanted to open web i/f, times out.
the Netgear utility picks it up, says healthy, runs test OK, it's abt 90% free - but just can't open web GUI, just get Netgear logo screen
appreciate any pointers, thank you!

If you use DHCP (the default), the IP address would be different. So expected behavior, not a problem,

The RN104 is an arm platform, the RN314 is x86. The system is designed to install the arm firmware when you migrate x86-arm (though I think Netgear spent more time on the arm->x86 direction).
But that process can't migrate the apps. Did you have any apps installed on the RN314?
It's also possible that the RN314 failure did some damage to the OS.
Either way, the best process is to back up all the files using SMB. (\\NAS-01). Then do a fresh factory install with the RN104. That will reformat the disks, so you'll need to reconfigure the RN104, and then restore the files from your backup.

apps: not to my knowledge, was/is just purely shared storage, main usage, doc scanner saves scanned docs to NAS, user accesses docs on NAS, very basic, don't think there is other use ..?
can't ssh to NAS, guess disabled
so... (bit rusty).. if I query like net share/ net use, that should show me all existing shares
it's only like 5 or <10% used, so I think not many files
once I copy all data off, how to reset/start new install?
any other pointers, gotchas, tips?
thank you very much, very helpful!

net view \\nas-ip-addresswill show you all the shares. (using the real IP address of course). That is assuming you didn't hide any in the NAS admin settings.
Note there is a home folder feature - if you used that, then those folders will not be shown either. If you aren't using the default admin password (e.g., password), and are using X-RAID then these commands will map the entire volume to the Z: drive
net use * /del /y net use \\nas-ip-address\data /u:admin nas-admin-passwordThat includes the home folders (which are in the z:\home)

The factory default is described on pages 28-29 of the hardware manual:
Try the OS-reinstall first, as that might work and won't destroy your data. It will also
- change the NAS admin password back to password
- set the NAS network connection to DHCP (which is the default)
- disable volume quota (which is re-enabled on the volume settings wheel).
