mdgm-ntgr- Given the age and uptime of the device, that's not surprising. It's been a while, but my recollection from the past was that a failed disk left the array running in a degraded mode. I recall being able to get into Frontpanel and review logs, disk errors, etc. At this point the whole unit fails to boot into an operating state.
Would you recommend removing the disk and attempting to boot? Alternatively, I could purchase a replacement disk and boot with that in place? What's the best way to confirm which disk should be removed/replaced?

You could test/diagnose all the drives in a Windows PC using WinDFT for Hitachi drives, Seatools for Seagate drives or Data Lifeguard for WD drives
