ReadyNAS 626X spare power supply
This is a request for information: where I might buy a spare replacement power supply for my 626X.
My ReadyNAS just went out of warranty and I am late getting this done. I want to buy a new power supply for the NAS for that inevitable day when the PS dies. Currently its working fine, but I want to avoid waking up to a dead NAS and having to scramble to replace a dead power supply. I don't know what power supply will work. From the documentation a 200W power supply is installed, and I suppose I'll have to open the box to see exactly what model is installed.
TIA for any tips!
David
Thanks for the tips!
Maybe I got lucky. I found a seller (Vanda Trading) on eBay with a 270W PS (item 156660240090) that has the exact pin out as the PDF diagram — pin 12 (blue) -12V and pin 18 (white) -5V have been modified to (yellow) +12V, and the listing indicates the PS is suitable for the 626X and 516 among many other Netgear NAS models. I wonder if this is one of the ones you indicated that won’t work because of the 4 pin connector?

Just looking at it isn't going to tell you everything you need to know because it looks standard but the pin-out is non-standard. Netgear has never sold spare parts, so the only way to get one is to re-wire a standard supply's connector or take one out of a parts unit. It's nearly the same as those for the legacy 4-bay units, but it has the 4-pin CPU connector, so pre-modified supplies that are available on eBay won't work (unless there is a new one I'm unfamiliar with). The fan is also installed in the supplies used in the OS6 models.
The supply is a Flex ATX form factor with the -5V (which is often already unpopulated) and -12V pins being changed to +12V, as shown on the right in this diagram: http://www.readynas.com/download/archive/pdf/ReadyNAS_PSU_pinout.pdf.
But since it is simply a re-wired standard supply, you don't necessarily have to keep one around just in case. It's not like it was a Netgear part.

The note in the PDF says this:
ReadyNAS 600, X6 and 1000S use standard ATX power connector
ReadyNAS NV, NV+ and 1100 use modified ATX power connector:
–12V(Blue) and –5V(White) changed to +12V(Yellow)I'm not sure if the 626X is covered by either statement, but if it is, I'd guess either the 600 or X6. So the ReadyNAS 600 (and 626X??) uses a standard ATX power connector.
Not sure if you made a typo or I am misunderstanding the post/PDF.
In any case, thanks for the info.

I'm also wondering if you (or anyone reading this) has actually replaced the 626X power supply successfully? Please tell details! :)

As I very specifically said, it's the modified wiring. That diagram was created before the OS6 native ReadyNAS's existed, so it doesn't specifically list them. I have done a replacement on a 516 (which uses the same supply). All you have to do is look at the wire colors to see.
The 600 and X6 are the very oldest ReadyNAS, manufactured by Infrant before they were acquired by Negear.
Since the newer ReadyNAS don't use the drive power connectors, they need more +12V in the main one to provide sufficient current for the drives.

I see that, as you have found, that vendor is now offering one that does have the 4-pin connectors. So I stand corrected, there is a pre-modified supply now available. With delivery from the UK, it will cost more than modifying one yourself for those not in the UK, but many would rather pay the extra than attempt the mod themselves.
