I don't think it's the size, but there could be something else going on with the file system.
You could try creating a new share, then use a web UI backup job to copy the files into it. Then delete the original share, and rename the new one to match the original.
BTW, you probably shouldn't enable snapshots on these shares (since the repeated deletions will consume a lot of snapshot space). If you want to take advantage of snapshots, you might want to look into tools that will do incremental backups from the PC (instead of using NAS backup jobs). FreeFileSync might be worth looking at. I've used RoboCopy to do this, though that is a command line tool so you'd need to create a script.

Hello, I have been trying to do as you suggested and keep encountering the same problem. I am unable to remove those files or delete that folder. I can add folders, but not delete that one.
I did finally see an alert pop up at the top and when checking the logs it said that “The volume encountered an error and was made read - only. It is recommended to backup your data.”
Could this have been my problem the whole time? How do I change it from read only?
I disabled snapshots not very long after getting the system. I was noticing that all my space was being used up by the snapshots.
I’ll give free file sync a look and see if it will help me backup faster and more efficiently.

It looks like anytime it encounters a conflict, me trying to delete those files or that share, it turns the system into a read only until after reboot. Then I can backup or move files, other than the handfull it has deemed off limits. Everything I check on those files seems to be just like the other files and folders on the system. It just does not like me trying to delete those specific files. I have tried moving them. It looks like the files have moved to another folder, but when I check after a few minutes they have either moved bock or the system never moved them. Then the system encounters a error and becomes read only until after reboot.
I might just leave those files alone and backup what needs to be backed up and move on to making it ftp ready. I can always try to delete them at a later date. - StephenBDec 14, 2018Guru - Experienced User
Perhaps look in system.log and see if there are any BTRFS errors around the time you tried to do the deletion.

Hello,
Here is all it says in the logs when I try to delete those files.
Is there another place I can check to see a different log? Maybe in more detail. I just went to system then selected log.

Download the log zip file and look in system.log and kernel.log.

The characters aren't legible even when the image is zoomed. Cut-paste as text (using the "insert code" </> icon), and edit out whatever you wish there.
Private IP addresses are safe to post, as they are not routable over the internet. So your NAS can not be reached using them. The three private IP addresses ranges are:
10.0.0.0 – 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 – 172.31.255.255

Maybe this will work. I made a jpg using copy paste text into gimp2 and I am attaching it as a file. Since everytime I try to either enter it in as code or just paste it into the text section the post disappears. Hopefully it stays this time.

Yes, that is a btrfs filesystem error. If you can't delete the share (recreating it later and restoring it from backup), the best way to fix it would be to do a factory reset and restore the entire NAS.
Perhaps try doing a scrub from the volume maintenance menu first, and see if that repairs it.

Hello,
Shouldn’t I be able to still access my ReadyNAS while it is running a scrub? I cannot log into the admin page or use readycloud on any device. Does this mean it has frozen or crashed? The lights are still on, but they are not blinking like they usually do when it is workin.

It should be accessible, but with much slower response.
Have you tried installing RAIDar on a PC, and see what status it reports? https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads

Here is what it says when I run raidar. I guess I should unplug the device let it sit a few minutes then plug it back in.
