Western Digital WD2000FYYZ Drives
Western Digital RE WD2000FYYZ 2TB Drives are not on the drive compatibility list for my ReadyNAS Pro 4, but appear to be very similar to the older RE4 WD2003FYYS drives that are. The main difference appears to be that the former are 6Gb/s SATA and the latter are 3Gb/s SATA drives. Has anyone actually tried using these drives in a ReadyNAS Pro? Is there any reason it would not be worth trying it?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Western Digital WD2000FYYZ Drives
I haven't tried them, but I'd say they likely will work.
Certainly the 6 GB/s SATA spec is not an issue.
One issue is that if you go off the HCL, Netgear will likely deny you support.

Yes, I understand they will likely deny support. I am in year 5 of a 5 year warranty. I just lost the original NVX Pioneer Edition I bought and they replaced it with a Pro 4. I think it was a power supply failure....there was an acrid smell in the room. The shipped the new unit the day I contacted them. So, I think I have gotten my money's worth and it seems there is minimal risk with trying these discs at some point since I already own them.
Thanks.
