Re: support for active directory integration
I believe that in OS 4.2 Active Directory is limited to business class only (the ultra was considered to be a home NAS product).
When you go to security->security mode in Frontview, are you seeing a security mode called "domain"?
If not, you could get this feature by converting your NAS to run OS 6. Netgear doesn't support that setup, but quite a few folks have done this with good results.

Instructions are here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS/Ultra-6-OS-Upgrade-from-4-2-30-to-OS-6/m-p/1181...
This can also be reversed if you change your mind on it later.
