Manage Your Network & Get More Out Of Your WiFi With The Nighthawk App

The NETGEAR Nighthawk App makes it easy to set up your router and get more out of your WiFi. You can install your router in few steps—just connect your mobile device to the router network and the app will walk you through the rest. From the app dashboard, you have easy access to these features:

• Device List — Monitor the devices connected to your network and pause the Internet to any device.

• Internet Speed Test — Check the broadband speeds from your service provider.

• WiFi Settings — Update your router’s firmware and personalize your network name and password.

• Guest Networks — Set up separate WiFi access for guests.

• Smart Parental Controls — Easily manage content & time online with Circle® with Disney.

• Remote Management — Easily monitor your home network anytime, anywhere.

Netgear: We don't want marketing - we need router firmware and Apps that are working for features that were great on the Genie App before.

Issue U: Netgear does fail again to make things clear. Why on earth don't they use the term "Circle" or "Circle by Disney" also on the App? No, they replace it (apparently) by a tile named "Parental Control" and confuse both the Live Parental Control (OpenDNS based) as in place on many Netgear routers. Broken continuity, broken usability, ...

*** PARENTAL CONTROLS BYPASS ACCOUNT SOLVED ***

Hi all - spent way too long trying to figure out how to get this to work on my phone, and there's a fairly simple answer.  You can't set it up on your phone.  However, you can set it up on your desktop/laptop so your phone works.

Download the Netgear Genie Windows application.  From there, you can log in your OpenDNS account you created to turn on the Parental Controls.  Then click on "Network Map" on the left, and find the device (phone or otherwise) that you want to adjust.  You might need to do a little research to figure out which IP is the one for your device (Just "findmyip.com shows the router's IP, not your devices).

Once you find the device you want, you can edit it, and adjust the parental control filtering to whatever you'd like for that specific device.  Voila, done. 🙂  Hope this helps.

No. Your Nighthawk app removed easy access to parental controls.

Correct. The ability to use the LPC bypass account on the device is lost in space, too.
