Can't access E6200

Yesteday I set up an EX6200 as an extender (or bridge) to a TP-Link AC1700 router via the WPS buttons for 2.4 and 5 GHz, then positioned the the unit where I want it. It shows on my Win 7 x64 laptop (wireless connections list). What I can't do is connect to it via wi-fi with mywifiext.net or 192.168.1.250 from a few feet away. This is my first time with an extender, so I'm not sure what to do next. Any ideas? Thanks,

Hello highstream

are you able to connect to it via ethernet?

Re: Can't access EX6200

Do you mean running an ethernet cable from the router to the EX6200?

Re: Can't access EX6200

I mean can you plug a pc into the EX6200 so you are able to get into the settings with mywifiext.com

Re: Can't access EX6200

My desktop PC with one ethernet port runs on a cable connection, so how would I connect to the Netgear? My laptop doesn't have an ethernet port.

You may have to factory reset the extender and connect to it again via wireless on your laptop and go threw the setup again instead of connecting it with WPS.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll get to it this week and report the results.

Re: Can't access EX6200

I did the factory reset and everything proceeded ok using my laptop, especially once I realized that I had mistyped in setting a password. Then things went downhill, as the multiple username and password settings with 2.4G and 5G in Netgear are seriously confusing. I write them down, but It's impossible to tell from the settings screens where the username and/or passwords apply. Then one minute there's 5G connectivity to the Netgear. Then another, I reset passwords and it shows me successfully connected to the existing WiFi network, but the 5G password has disappeared! And on the next I've completely lost my main router connection and it wants a guest password (there isn't one, never used it). And now I've completely lost my cable internet connection.

So, power cycles and reboots later, my main computer is back up everything works...except connecting the laptop to the Netgear. Not one password recognized and thus mywifiext.net page shows I'm not connected to the extender's wifi network. Perhaps I need to start with reset again?

Have you told the laptop to forget the old network then try to connect to it again?

Re: Can't access EX6200

Thanks. I deleted the two Netgear entries in Manage Wi-Fi (Win 7), but Wireless Network Connection in the sys tray still shows both. What am I missing?

Re: Can't access EX6200

Hello highstream

yes it still should show up that is where you would want to try and connect to them again what you did was tell your computer to forget the old network settings so when you connect now it should save the new ones.
