DST6501 DST LED Goes From Green to Off

I have just purchased and installed a R7300 AC 1900 Router and DST6501.  Set up everything pretty quickly except the DST Adapter.  The DST LED will only stay green when it is ridiculusly close to the router.  If I put it into another room further away, it will start green and then go out within 5 minutes (Blue WiFi LED on, Power LED on, DST LED off).  What has me scratching my head is that the router's WiFi signal is pretty good in the rooms where I tried this and had it fail as above.  Anyone have any ideas?

    I would suggest contacting Geek squad support they handle all the support for this product they will be able to troubleshoot with you and find out if its a hardware issue.

    The DST adapter behavior as described occurs when the DST(s) is / are plugged directly into a wall socket whereas the R7300 router is plugged into a surge protector; plug the router directly into a wall outlet.
