EX6100 connects to new Comcast router but does not serve IP internet to wifi-connected devices
Comcast upgraded our router (old config worked fine with Netgear EX6100 in 2.4G and 5G). I ran the mywifi setup cleanly, The wizard found the router and named the extender appropriately. Now the extender connects to the router; light's on solid. Devices (that always worked) can see and connect to the extender, but they fail to obtain IP addresses and the extender will not provide internet access. The error on the mobile devices is that the extender is "AP currently not in use. Internet Connection slow." Comcast is (no surprise) utterly ***king useless. Mt extender is still pretty new, but not 90 days new. Has anybody figured this out yet???
The answer is buried in the Netgear FAQ...alas, not in any documentation.
I have enabled a wireless MAC filter (wireless access control – ACL) on my router. What should I do when installing the EX6100?
The wireless device MAC address is translated to another MAC address when the wireless device connects to the EX6100. If your router MAC filter is enabled, the wireless device will not be able to get the IP address from the EX6100. To allow this wireless device to access the Internet, you must add the translated MAC address into the router. To get the translated MAC address:- Disable the MAC filter on your router.
- Power on the EX6100 and connect all of your wireless devices to the EX6100.
- Make sure that the Link Rate LED remains lit.
- Log in to your router and check the attached devices on the Attached Devices screen. Add any MAC addresses that begin with 02:0F:B5 into your router's MAC filter table.
