WN2500 access list issues
WNDR4500 with a WN2500, had the 2500 in internet surf mode but was having speed issues so changed to fastlane. I was using access lists successfully in internet surf mode but now that 2500 is in fastlane mode as soon as I turn on the access list in the WNDR4500 I loose connection to the 2500. I have verified all mac addresses are present in the list.
Any Ideas?
Thx

- Retired_MemberLeave it off and verify in attached device list to see what it shows connected. You should see two macs 1 for each Band of 2500 and the macs for the other devices I would think. Did you add them since they would be wifi devices I would think?
- jmizoguchiVirtuosoBeen Internet mode uses both band same time vs performance mode only uses either band.
I would re-setup the extender to either of the band as your choice and try it again - ThePathfinderApprenticesearay - Yes those 2 addresses are on the list, but as soon as I activate the filtering on the 4500 the 2500 cannot connect to it.
jmizoguchi - Not understanding your advice originally the 2500 was setup with both bands available (labeled internet surf mode in the 2500) I changed it to use the 5 mHZ for Fastlane and 2.4 mHZ for device connections. The mac address filtering on the 2500 works as it always did but if I turn it back on in the 4500 the 2500 cannot connect to it. (the 4500 has the same list as before with the factory device macs and the unique 2500 generated macs.
With the filtering turned off both devices work as they should all devices connect and there is a noticeable speed difference using fastlane so I would like to keep it in this mode, but I would like to be able to run the mac filters
thx - jmizoguchiVirtuosoDo you use WPA2? If so mac filtering does not add any security to the network at all but to control added to encryption .
You may need to put trouble ticket in with the support directly via portal at my.netgear.com - ThePathfinderApprenticeYes I use WPA2 and yes I know it adds no security but it does allow me to block previously authorized users without having to change the password in all of my connected devices.
I did put in a support ticket...but figured I would ask here as the response is most assuredly faster. - jmizoguchiVirtuoso

Don't be lazy and change it... lol - ThePathfinderApprenticeLazy...I have well over 20 pieces of hardware that would need to be changed.
You might be a Netgear lover but so far the 4500 has not been a very stable piece of hardware. It sporadically loses the firmware for not particular reason and I have to tftp from a brick back to a working device. Now this simple change in mode on the 2500 has you recommending not using mac address filtering and me having to change the big long key in all my devices...this should not be happening.
I thought I would get some ideas on what to look for not a response saying I am lazy LOL...
