How do the various QOS settings limit speed to devices?
Question to all. Manual and web does not seem to answer the following questions clearly.
How does share excess on/off work - what is the "excess"?
Here is what I interprate I am seeing... and let us assume we are connected to a 100Mbps max down / 100Mbps max up connection (simple math). We have 2 device with a 60/40 allocation in QOS, QOS is turned ON; Antibufferbloat set to always ON with a value set @ 70% and share excess set to OFF.
I would assume the following bandwidth rates for the two devices to apply.
Device 1 (QOS@60%) has a max throughout of 100Mpbs x 60% x 70% ... hence 42Mps
Device 2 (QOS@40%) has a max throughout of 100Mpbs x 40% x 70% ... hence 28Mps
On my unit I download a large file on Device 1 (console) with Device 2 (low/no network demand-other device) it appears to download at the maximum antibufferbloat limit ~ 70Mps and not the individual device rate shown above? Is this how it supposed to work? I would have thought with share excess set to OFF it would be capped at 42Mpbs? Is there a way to limit every device to never used more than the QOS% and resulting Mbps value 100% of the time?
Thanks in advance for answers to come from those with more insight into how things do (or are supposed to) work on this unit.

- Netduma-FraserNetDuma PartnerDid you disable Share Excess for both download and upload? As there is a button for each. Have you changed Traffic Prioritization at all as that would supersede the Anti-BB/Allocation.

Thanks for response. Learned something new... share excess has two places it needs to be set/unset. Always thought it was universal setting for both uploads and downloads. I suspect this explains what I was seeing. The QOS defaults to UPLOAD view and I set share excess to OFF and I was viewing DOWNLOAD behavior. Menu and manual would do well to highlight this in a better way e.g. Share excess button for both upload and download shows in the menu view.
