CAX30 AX2700 big drop in speed

I have a 1gbps internet plan for home and have noticed consistent slow speeds. I decided to call the cable company's technican and his test results were as below

1, Co-axial cable to his hand held testing device: download MAX 988mbps, AVG 905mbps.

2. Co-axial to netgear CAX30 AX2700 to his hand held device (via both cat5e and 6) : download MAX 280mbps, AVG: 215mbps

3. Overwifi : download ~ 250mps

Questions

1. Anyone has an idea as to why there would be such a huge drop in speed (from 980 to 280)?

2. Any suggestions to bring the speed as close as possible to the test results from the co-axial cable to the testing device?

Thanks

Re: CAX30 AX2700 big drop in speed

did you try a simple factory reset/reinstall of the router?

Yes I did the reset and no change in the speed. Also tried playing around with the channels..to no avail.

Re: CAX30 AX2700 big drop in speed

contact xfinity and have them re-provision it. i've seen them send the wrong provisioning file to a modem before.

Re: CAX30 AX2700 big drop in speed

I have optimum. The tech came today and tested the connection. A direct coaxial to his testing device gave a speed of 988mbps. Coaxial to Netgear to his testing device gave a speed of 250+ mbps

That's why they provision the modem. That's why I'm saying contact them to have them reprovision it. If they sent the wrong speed provisioning, the modem will run slow. They're little "tester" is only confirming the line has full speed, not that the modem has the correct provisioning.

Ah… that would make sense. I will reach out to them and see what have they provisioned.

Just an FYI .. just tested on my iPhone 12 which is giving me 611, Netgear’s nighthawk app shows 580 and my laptop is showing ~ 250+ (both wired and wireless) . Does that new info change anything from your side?

Yes. it does. Try a different laptop.

Maybe its limiting it. If your iphone and the built in app (built it rarely maxes out gigabit) is hitting 600+, then its provisioned for higher speeds.
