Can't access Modem/Router via WiFi

Recently purchased Nighthawk AC1900 and am trying to set it up.
If I connect it via ethernet I can log into the modems login page but I can't via WiFi.
I can connect to both the 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz networks but when I try to access the modems log in page via WiFi it just times out.
I've tried resetting modem and restating the PC.
Is there something obvious that I'm missing? I just find it strange I can get to the log in page via ethernet buut not WiFi.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Perhaps you just started the network in the correct order.
- Turn off and unplug modem.
- Turn off router and computers.
- Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
- Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it connect.
- Turn on computers and rest of network.
