Firmware Update Instructions:
To update your router’s firmware, follow the instructions in your router’s user manual. To view your router’s user manual, visit https://www.netgear.com/support/product/R7000P.aspx#docs.
Manually update FW on the router if this isn't seen on the routers web page:
https://kb.netgear.com/23960/How-do-I-manually-update-the-firmware-on-my-NETGEAR-router
NOTE: Use a wired PC and web browser to update router FW. If continued problems are seen after a FW update, it's recommended to try a factory reset and setup from scratch with out loading any saved configurations from backup files.
https://kb.netgear.com/9665/How-do-I-perform-a-factory-reset-on-my-NETGEAR-router
NOTE: Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200
Cooling: Its recommended to install a USB laptop cooler under the router for 24/4 cooling. Helps keep the router cool and helps avoid heat damage to the electronics.

Re: New - R7000P Firmware Version 1.3.3.154 Released
In order to enable IPv6 with Verizon FiOS you need to use Auto Config which will give you a LAN IPv6 address. The WAN IPv6 address is not shown. If you try Auto Detect it will default to 6to 4 tunnel. I did notify Netgear about this but so far it has not been implemented. Perhaps as IPv6 becomes implemented over more of the area that Verizon serves Netgear will correct this.

Re: New - R7000P Firmware Version 1.3.3.154 Released
Along with my R7000P router I also have the RAX45 router. With the current firmware both still drop IPv6 after an hour or two if you have vCMTS with Comcast. Originally Netgear stated a fix would be released in September, but the R7000P latest firmware still does not have this update. Netgear now states that an update to resolve this issue for my RAX45 (and other models that use the same firmware) should be released in November. Hopefully the next update for the R7000P will also have this update.

Re: New - R7000P Firmware Version 1.3.3.154 Released
A follow-up on using IPv6 with Verizon FiOS. It appears Auto Config is just a temporary solution only supplying IPv6 for a short period of time. The Netgear IPv6 page still shows a LAN IPv6 address but using an IPv6 test in my browser no longer shows an IPv6 address and the test fails. Currently the only stable solution for using IPv6 is using DD-WRT which with a 56 prefix gives both a WAN and LAN address. Has anyone has been able to get Verizon FiOS IPv6 to work with Netgear firmware?

I sent an email to Netgear Customer Support and a PM to DarrenM about this issue. Thanks for the advice!

Re: New - R7000P Firmware Version 1.3.3.154 Released
So far no response from Netgear on the IPv6 issue using Verizon FiOS. They have so many products that consistently need firmware updates so I assume this issue is not a priority (and may never be).

Re: New - R7000P Firmware Version 1.3.3.154 Released
On the Netgear website the R7000P and the R7000 are still listed for sale. The R7000 was released several years before the R7000P and is still currently receivein updates. The R7000 was last updated in Feb. 2024 which addressed security vulnerabilities.
