Netgear EX7000-100PES Nighthawk .....not able to setup!
Hello there, i got my EX7000 these days an tried today to set it up as AP.....but two steps further i get first problems :(
My WLAN Device (HTC M7) can connect to it and i filled out the forms but after that it tells me constantly there is no
connection to the router!? First i thougth the switch between them caused issues....but also DIRECTLY connected to
my Router it tells me THERE IS NO CONNETION! What the heck....there are no restrictions for connecting devices on
my Router, all other devices connect without problems so in my eyes its the Netgear that wont work....i tried different
ports on the back,nothing....other cable....nothing. Manual doesent help.....can anyone here???
Btw Router is an Draytek Vigor 2130vn...
best regards, Marc (German)

- Connection Status Connected

- Connection Type Ethernet
- Connection Status Connected

- Region: Europe
- Channel: Auto (1)
- Wireless mode: Up to 600 Mbps
- Wireless AP: On

- Wi-Fi Protected Setup: Configured
Access Point Wireless Settings (5GHz)
- Name (SSID): Jupiter4
- Region: Europe
- Channel: 36 + 40 + 44(P) + 48
- Wireless mode: Up to 1300 Mbps
- Wireless AP: On
- Broadcast Name: On
- Wi-Fi Protected Setup: Configured
- PreylordAspirantHello! We're Do you See this data? I can't go into any options because the device stops at the point we're its testing the connection to the Router/internet . Its the step after you be asked if you want to use Extender or Access Point mode.....

Forget what i said above....i didnt see the button down below because of the cellphone display ^^
Ok, now i managed to get into the EX7000 Settings menu....on the status u posted the upper two are both diconnected and the SSID is empty.
So there is still no connection to my router/DHCP.....the joke now is if i go to Settings>Wireless>IP Adresse it shows me that DHCP is enabled,
and there is a IP "192.168.1.250"....if i type these i can access the device from my PC but NO connection with router?!?
I dont know were it got this IP because the range of my router is from 192.168.1.10 up to 192.168.1.50 .......
I did now a firmware upgrade to the latest version i case its a bug that plages me here....but nothing changed.
The Port LED the EX7000 is connected to only shows me Orange status....
So....why the heck this thing didnt connect correctly to my router?
regards
Are you trying to set up the EX7000 as a range extender or as an Access Point (AP)? You mentioned AP but I'm not sure if you were using the term casually. On the EX7000, AP mode really means wired AP mode. This means the EX7000 must be connected to the router via Ethernet cable. Make sure the Ethernet LED on the EX7000 lights up. The EX7000 should automatically obtain an IP address from the router. Then all you have to do is set up its Wi-Fi network.
If you are not connecting the EX7000 to the router via Ethernet, then you must set it up as a range extender. The setup will then proceed join the extender to the router's Wi-Fi network as well as set up the extender's own Wi-Fi network.
- PreylordAspirantHi, sorry if my english is confusing ...but YES im want to Set it up as AP, YES it is wired connected and the used Port on the netgear is ligthed up green but NO the device denies permanently to obtain an IP from my Router! This is the Main Problem. DHCP on netgear is on , also on Router. Again, there are no restrictions on Router for connecting devices....All my other Hardware has no Problems....only this freaking netgear :(
RegardsYour English is fine.
Can you try a different Ethernet cable to use between the router and EX7000?
Is the Ethernet cable plugged into a LAN port on the Draytek Vigor?
Is the link light for the Ethernet port on your Draytek Vigor router green?
Is the Ethernet port on your Draytek enabled?
Is the link speed set on the Draytek set to either Auto or 1 Gbps FDX?
Are you using VLANs on your Draytek?
Is the IP Pool counts on your Draytek large enough to assign IP addresses to the EX7000 and its clients?
Do you have any restrictions enabled in the Firewall of your Draytek? The firewall looks pretty powerful, so make sure the LAN port used by the EX7000 is allowed and that there are no Access Control Lists configured that would block packets coming from the EX7000.

Thanks ;)
Well, yes i tried another cable (one of my first steps)
Original the Netgear was sitting behind an 8 Port Gbit Switch but when first problems appeard i plugged it directly in router
No,as said above the light on Netgear is green,on router its orange which means an low bandwith connection....
Yes,all ports are enabled and speed on all are set to Auto
No Vlan´s
The IP Pool is actually limited from 1.10 up to 1.50 ,so 40 clients possible....but i have only 18 in use so there is enough space
The firewall didnt block any ports nore have i set up any traffic control or special access controls
I tried yesterday to set u another AP bougth from a friend.....no problems setting it up! DHCP worked fine and its was availible within seconds........
regads
- PreylordAspirantWell I used this cable on the other AP which worked fine. Tomorrow I got another Router for testing if the netgear works on him.....I also got a second netgear here but its still in original packing....if I dont get the First to work booth go back to amazone instant! Thy anyway for your time so far :)
Is the other AP connecting at 1 Gbps with the same cable? 100 Mbps Ethernet only uses 2 out of the 4 pairs of wires in the cable. Gigabit Ethernet uses all 4 pairs. If even one wire is bad in the cable, Gigabit Ethernet will not be possible.
- PreylordAspirantHmm,the LED was green so I guess "yes"....but I have enough cable to Test it a third time ;)

So today i tried it with a Fritzbox....one of the easiest to use routers...and a brand new cable.....guess what? Nothing! This thing is in my eyes
only High End looking crap! No intensions to open up the second one, these go straight back to amazon.
I went to the Draytek AP 900....as i want to first but i was blinded by design and AC Wlan.
THX for your help anyway!
Sorry to hear that it was a bust. I can't blame how you feel.
