Netgear R7000 v2

Hello:

I'm thinking of getting an R7000 wireless router for my daughter.  I'll be setting it up remotely with her.  I have 3 R7000 routers so I'm pretty familiar with them.  Just wanted to know if Netgear still does their stupid multiple hardware versions with this router?  That is, do they have a v2 (v3, v4, v5?) version of this router or are they still selling the identical version ("v1") that they started out with in 2014?  I don't want to try setting it up remotely, only to find they introduced a totally different version.  They've done this for as long as I've owned Netgear equipmet (15+ years), culminating i the ridiculous 5 (yes 5) different hardware versions of the WNR2000!

Thanks in advance,

Regardless version if there is version change,  most of the time, operating procedure stays same.

Re: Netgear R7000 v2

Yes and no.  Try working with a WNR2000 v1/v2/v3 vs v4/v5 - TOTALLY different routers!

So, how many hardware versions of the R7000 are there?

Re: Netgear R7000 v2

i would suggest you go for r7800. Nothing changes apart from dynamic QOS and mu-mimo close to double speed and fastest procy say 1.7ghz dual core. 512mb ram

i know 7000 is still the best hardware netgear ever produced. I loved it and still my rocking router in my and brother house. it can handle anything you throw at it. But not pretty much with stock version. It is meant to used with open source. and it works well.

Coming to your requirement. Its pretty much same interface the holded uptil x10 the latest fastest and costlier router in the market with whooping 400+ dollars.

Consire R7800 OR X4S. the earlier version really bad. this one works cool. My next upgrade would be soon x4s. As when i need to replace the r7000.

Re: Netgear R7000 v2

Support can be found at support.netgear.com.

There is no R7000v2.

As another customer said - I recommend looking into the R7800 as well

The new R9000 is an awesome choice as well. athough it is a bit more expensive.

Re: Netgear R7000 v2

There is an R7000P based on the more powerful Qualcomm CPU and WiFi chipset, but no R7000v2 per se. Netgear hasn't done multiple revisions that often as in the WNDR3700 days, at most usually two like the R7500v2 since the Nighthawk era.
