New Nighthawk RAX43
I installed my new Nighthawk RAX43 as replacement for my old Sitecom router and for for some reason it is much slower than the old one. Even though it is placed at the same location (tried a few other location too.) The Netgear dashboard tells me the speed of the router is very good. (I assume he tests the speed between the router and my cable modem.)
Went to sit next to the router with my mobile and did a speedtest and it was barely 13Mb/s... (My old router had 98Mb/s in comparison) What could it be? (Is Armor maybe slowing everything down?)
Had to re-install the old modem for now...I hope anyone has an idea on how to proceed...
Kind Regards,
Wim

Re: New Nighthawk RAX43
What modem/gateway is it connected to?
What firmware is on it?
what device are you speedtesting on?
What band are you connected to? (2.4ghz or 5ghz)

Re: New Nighthawk RAX43
The modem is: Wireless modem 3.0 (DOCSIS)
I Used 3 different speedtests:
1. Via the Nighthawk Dasboard. But i think it measures only the wired connection between the router and my modem for always give the same high result where I go.
2. Speedtest available webpage of my ISP
3. tool "speedtest.net". to have last independent measurement. The last 2 confirmed the same low speeds.
(Lastly i started a download of a game via steam. This normally goes at 10MB/s-12Mb/s and now did not even reach 1 MB/s)
I connect mainly via the 2.4Ghz band but have tried everything also 5 Ghz band hoping that would work better but same results.
I do not know the firmware of my (cable) modem. It is a rented device from my ISP. I assume they keep it up to date but do not know that. For the Netgear router I have of course started with updating to the last available firmware together with the installation.
To exclude environmental factors i did the last speedtests via my mobile phone, holding it very close to the router but it confirmed the same values...

Re: New Nighthawk RAX43
What actual modem is it? wireless/docsis 3.0 device implies you're using a modem/router combo device and it causes a double nat unless setup properly.
Also, there's a difference from MB/s to mb/s. one is 8x faster than the other. So if ones displaying 10MB/s it could be 80mbps.
so check that.
Also, 2.4ghz isn't going to have very fast speeds. That 80mbps is about what you can expect from it.
5ghz is faster.
But what actual device are you testing with?
