Nighthawk CAX80 AX6000 - Trend Micro, Firefox and Edge not functioning

I recently purchased this product with eager anticipation for the increased speed, range, and stability over my old modem-router.  After 4 days of frustration and anger I am about 4 to 5 days away from returning to store for a full refund.  This is my story………..

I am running Windows 10 operating system, Trend Micro Maximum Security as my anti-virus security suite, Mozilla Firefox latest version as my main browser, EDGE is my backup, ‘Spectrum’ is my ISP.  Nighthawk CAX80 AX6000 purchased new is my unit.

After several hours of some off and on frustration I managed to read through the installation instructions, contact Spectrum to successfully activate, and establish a wireless connection (required downloading updated drivers) to my two printers.

I had shut down the computer and the Netgear unit for a couple days.  Upon turning the unit and computer back on, I checked for a security update but received a note saying “Unable to contact Trend Micro” in the program main console.  I was directed to download a hot fix .exe file and restart computer which is sometimes successful in updating my security software and accessing websites in Firefox and Edge.  Other times I have no success.  I will receive messages stating “Secure Site Not Available”, “Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead”, “Secure Connection Failed” and sometimes other messages saying cannot open due to errors related to HTTPS addresses and certificates.

This happens every time after the modem unit is turned off.  I will then spend the next 30 to 60 minutes logging into Netgear Firmware, and Firefox security settings, trying to determine the reason.    It will sometimes get partially resolved when I’m able access some websites but not others after 15 – 20 minutes have elapsed and doing nothing.  I have no idea how or why.  There is no rhyme or reason to all this. I disabled all extensions in Firefox, uninstalled and reinstalled the browser software to no effect.  I have also disabled the ‘Armor’ utility installed with the unit.

This problem occurs every time the AX6000 unit is turned off.  I have called Netgear tech support but the rep I spoke with is also at a loss for a solution.

DOES ANYONE HAVE SUGGESTIONS OR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS?

    1. Why are you turning it off? I haven't shut mine off in years (other than to swap it out)

    2. Trendmicro is giving you these issues? What happens if you disable it?

    3. Its only on the 1 pc?

    4. If its only on the one PC, did you try upgrading it to windows 11?

    5. Does any other device at all have issues?

The driver update for other devices is normal. Upgrading to AX caused a lot of devices to need to be updated to support it.
