RAX54S Wireless (5GHz) speed

I have a RAX54S router Version 1.  While it seems to be working, I'm unable to get 5GHz wireless speeds faster than 350Mbps (using Ookla's SPEEDTEST).  Using the wired connection, I'm able to achieve over 900Mbps / rated offering speed from my ISP.  I have tried firmware levels 10.110, 11.112, 12.120 and 16.132 (most current).  I do NOT use QOS.  I have worked my way through all available 5GHz channel choices  including "auto".  I have run the tests through a new laptop using Windows 11 Pro.  I've also tested using my Samsung Galaxy Tab 5e and my Samsung Galaxy A51 cellphone at their most current Android OS levels.  The results are always 325 - 350 Mbps.  "Mode" is set to "up to 4800Mbps"  Beamforming and MU-MIMO settings have no impact.  Is there some simple setting I'm missing or is the 350Mbps speed the maximum I'm going to get?

If you want to understand more about wifi speeds,

read here:

https://www.wiisfi.com/

Its goes a bit into depth but the basic overview will detail wifi speeds.

What devices are you testing with (in detail). That helps us determine if the 433mbps link speed is correct for your device or if it should be higher.

Re: RAX54S Wireless (5GHz) speed

what link speed are they reporting?

What firmware version are you on?

have you tried disabling armor, traffic monitoring, parental controls?

what modem/gateway is it connected to?

Re: RAX54S Wireless (5GHz) speed

what link speed are they reporting?  Reported link speed is ALWAYS 433Mbps

What firmware version are you on?   As I indicated in my original post, I have used four of the five available firmware levels.  My router is currently at Version V1.0.16.132_2.0.92 (most current available from Netgear)

have you tried disabling armor, traffic monitoring, parental controls?   I do NOT use "armor", I do NOT use "traffic monitoring", I do NOT use "parental controls"

what modem/gateway is it connected to?   This router is connected to an Arris SB8200 DOCSIS 3.1 Ultra Fast Cable Modem.  The wired RJ45 connection is consistently 850-900Mbps down and 50-52Mbps up

and yes, I have power cycled both the modem and router and revisited the connection speeds.

All tests and reporting are done with my cell phone, tablet or notebook approximately 6' to 8' from the router.

I have run the tests at all hours of the day - 1am, 3am, 5am, 9am, 1pm, 4pm, 9pm with the same results.  Reported link is 433Mbps, speed tests are between 325 and 350Mbps.

Re: RAX54S Wireless (5GHz) speed

If you're link speed is 433mbps, your 325-350mbps is about all you can expect. Actual throughput is around 55-65% of link speed. So you're hitting above that so your at the higher end of efficiency. You'd need a better device to hit faster speeds as yours is only connecting at a 1x1 antenna speed rate.

Re: RAX54S Wireless (5GHz) speed

Thanks for your help!  I've got a lot of reading to do.  Trying to get prepared for some new streaming software on various devices around the home and figuring out if another router/ap would help or hinder.  Thanks again!

If you're about connecting at 433mbps, the device is the bottleneck and not the router
