BUG: Orbi no longer using port forwarding after restarting - but settings still listed correctly

Hello!

As in  description, this is reproducible for me 100% of the time when doing the following:

- set up an entry in port forwarding

- check it works (it does!)

- power down your Orbi router*

- switch it back on*

- wait a bit for everything to be back and ready

- check port forwarding - no longer working! (can wait a few more hours and try again - never comes back!)

- go in to settings, notice port forwarding setting is still listed correctly - so should be working...

- delete the port forwarding setting, re-add setting - works again!

*any kind of restart of the router, could be a normal restart or a power off/on.

It seems that port forwarding stops functioning if the  router is restarted. - however the setting is still listed, so the setting is not lost - it just stops working. The only way I can get it to work again after a restart is to remove the setting and re-add it exactly as it was. The local machine it is pointing to has not changed IP address.

This is on firmware   V4.4.1.29_3.10.80, but was also present on previous firmware I was using.

Cheers,

What Orbi model is this in reference too?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

Be sure your actively using the port or trying to use the port configuration.

Be sure uPnP is disabled on the RBR before setting up any PF configurations.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update? A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

I would power OFF the ISP modem for 1 minute. Factory reset the Orbi router and power it off. Power ON the ISP modem and let it sync. Then power ON the Orbi router and walk thru the setup wizard again using a wired PC and a web browser.
Press the back reset button for 15 seconds then release.

This is happening on the   RBR350.

It's connected straight to the OpenReach box. I don't have any other internet or connectivity issues.

Yes - I am.

Yes -  I am. As in my original post, the port forwarding works fine until the router is reset - at which point, it no longer works until I re-add it in the configuration. (despite it still being listed).

uPnP is disabled.

I have tried these things as you have suggested, but the bug still persists. It is 100% reproducible. It seems to me this must be a bug in the firmware that it does not properly re-initialise port forwarding when the router boots up, only when new configurations are added.

Thanks for the feedback.

I'll pass this on to NG for review.
