Devices not connecting to the satellite
Hi I'm having the same problem. I have 3 satellites. One on each level at least and all my devices are withing recommended distance to the satellite. I even have an Alexa sitting right next to a satellite upstairs and it still connects to the main router satellite downstairs. I've scoured settings and I don't' see the ability to force devices to connect to a satellite as indicated in older posts.
Firmware Version v4.6.8.2_2.1.9
Almost all other setting are default beyond primary passwords.
Version Fios internet hard lined directly to the Orbi router. There is no other router or wireless signal device diverting the traffic before it his the Orbi Main router hub. Only device is a netgear mutli-port switch for cat hard line connectivity.
@FURRYe38 or any other can you help???

Re: Devices not connecting to the satellite
You have a 7 series Orbi system?
What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Is the RBS ethernet connected or wirelessly connected to the RBR?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?
Also try turning down the power output of the RBRs wifi radios from 100% to 50% and see if this changes anything. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Firmware Version v4.6.8.2_2.1.9
RBR750 Model
Almost all other setting are default beyond primary passwords.
Version Fios internet hard lined directly to the Orbi router. There is no other router or wireless signal device diverting the traffic before it his the Orbi Main router hub. Only device is a netgear mutli-port switch for cat hard line connectivity.
Don't have Auto channel as an option for 5Ghz, set to 48.. 2.5GH set to channel 1. Adjusted the output power to 50%.
No change in results though. All devices are still connecting primarily to the main router only.

less than 30 feet. All Satellite display full signal strength as well.

Maybe why.

Re: Devices not connecting to the satellite
Seems like a pretty weak reason. Considering I have an Alexa sitting right next to the upstairs satellite which is probably cuspy at the 30ft. mark. And the Alexa connects to the router downstairs. Makes no sense.
Never had this much of an issue with Google Wife points which are in the exact same location. I switched to Orbi because it was supposed to be an upgrade. Seems like the out of the box functionality is pretty wonky.

Re: Devices not connecting to the satellite
IF there is too much wifi over lap between the RBR and RBS, this makes signals hard to lock on for some devices so even though they sit next to the stronger source, they may connect to the farther signal source. It's up to devices to pick and choose where they connect too. We can only make some helping changes, distances between wifi sources and transmit power are a couple.
Good Luck.
