RBR750 in AP Mode questions

I picked up an RBR750 with 2 satellites. The initial setup was painful but got it setup how I wanted after a day of trying. When I set the router up in AP mode I used a fixed IP address. On the landing page it shows internet good. However when I go to the firmware page and check firmware it comes back with no internet. Why is that? Also it appear you can not change the IP address after setup. Is that correct?

Re: RBR750 in AP Mode questions

Hi.

In order to change the IP config after an inital AP setup one has to re-run the wizard process and choose DHCP vs static IP, pick the NetBIOS name, etc.

In your initial static IP address config is the gateway IP address the same as the AP IP address or your router IP address?

Thanks,

S.

Re: RBR750 in AP Mode questions

"is the gateway IP address the same as the AP IP address or your router IP address?" Answer is no.. My router is set to .254. I learned long ago not to use .1 since many routers default to .1 at initial setup.

How do I re-run the wizard, do I need to do a factory reset?

Re: RBR750 in AP Mode questions

I use an RBR850 but Ibelieve the GUI is the same. No need for factory reset just re do the wizard which can be found by looking at the screen shot below:

Re: RBR750 in AP Mode questions

So you have to switch to DHCP then switch back to fixed. ARGH..

Re: RBR750 in AP Mode questions

Why not set static maps in your DHCP server (assumed running on your router) so that each RBS and/or RBR always gets the same IP addy, DNS and gateway when they start/reboot?

Re: RBR750 in AP Mode questions

I probably could. I have the satellites static mapped since you can't fix the IP. The only reason I didn't is I have two Opnsense routers. When it comes time to upgrade I upgrade the backup to make sure no issues. Once I am happy I flip routers with little or no outage time. I have to make sure I have DHCP synced between routers. Sometime I miss things. I need to learn Opnsense API and write a script to sync DNS, and DHCP .. Another project..
