RBR760 Satellites Wired Backhaul not working through Araknis POE managed switch

Hello, I have an RBR760 router with three RBS760 satellites and arranging the wired backhaul through my Araknis 210 switch has been nothing short of frustrating.

Here is where I am at and some history on the situation.

1. All three satellites will sync and connect to the router with the wireless connection just fine.
2. I have the Araknis switch on a static IP address of 10.0.0.99
3. I have the RBR760 offering a dynamic IP pool of 10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.95
4. I have ran one wire from the RBR760 to the in port of the Araknis switch.
5. When I then run a wire from the switch to the satellites, the wired connection is never recognized.
6. Further, if the router reboots with the wired connections in place, the RBR760 then fails to connect to the satellites in any way.
   
   

To attempt to remedy this, I have now done the following:

1. After syncing each satellite to the RBR760 with a wireless connection, I have connected them all with a wired connection directly to the RBR760.
2. Once I have confirmed that the wired backhaul is functioning, I have then created a unique IP reservation for each satellite. Those IPs are 10.0.0.96, 10.0.0.97 and 10.0.0.98.
3. I have then rebooted the router to confirm the new IPS of the satellites and to confirm the wired backhaul was still functioning, and it was.
4. At this point, I then disconnected the wired backhaul from RBR760 and confirmed through the web interface that the satellites had reverted to a wired connection, they had.
5. Next I plugged the wired backhaul for each satellite into the Araknis switch and then confirmed through the web interface that the Satellites indeed are connected via wired backhaul and have the correct IP Address!

Okay so seeming like we are on the right track and everything is working, but no, if the router powers down or reboots while hard wired through the Araknis switch, the connection to the satellites, both wired and wireless are lost 😞

I feel I am really close to having this work but I keep losing the IP's and connections with the satellites on restart. Any suggestions? All hard lined connections out of the Araknis switch (with internet from RBR760) work great.

When I did this VLAN config on a NG managed switch, I had my RBS wirelessly connected. Then configured the managed switch for the VLAN and applied the changes. I don't think the switch should need any rebooted or power cycle. After the config was applied, I then connected the RBS via ethernet, one at a time, allowed for 5 minutes to settle in. Then tested each RBS with a phone and pad. However, not sure if same thing will work with a different branded switch, so might be good to find a GS 105 or GS 305 non managed switch to connect the RBS too and be done with it. 😉

Does the RBS wired backhaul work if you replace the managed switch with a non managed switch? Something like NGs GS 105 or GS 305? 

Try disabling any IGMP and Green Ethernet protocols on this switch.

Well, I am trying to avoid buying a different switch, I really like this one and it came as part of our media buy with a new house. With that said, I could replace the switch if for some reason this one just won't work.

I have EEE settings disabled on all ports.

In the IGMP snooping settings, it says that IGMP snooping is disabled. However, further down on that page under "router settings" it shows VLAN ID as 1 and then under the column "Router ports auto learned" it says "Enabled" I am not sure what that all means.

Give this a try on your managed switch and see if this could help:

Not sure if this will or not since you have a different managed switch. If it doesn't you can just add a GS series non managed switch behind the RBR alone with the managed switch and just connect the RBS to the GS series switch. I run a couple of switches behind my RBR. 😉 One is sepecifically for my RBS that are ethernet connected.

Okay cool, yeah that was my next move (buying a small un managed switch for the satellites) but I figured I would take one more shot at troubleshooting this specifically with the managed switch.

I have tried the VLAN setup you suggested but it doesn't seem to hold after a reboot like in the other situations. I did however only input the VLAN settings and Apply, I did not restart the switch, do you think that is necessary to truly try the config?

I think I am ordering a small unmanaged switch to run the satellites from and just put this to bed. Thanks for the help.
