Lock a product (via Mac Address) to a specific RBR50 satelite
Greetings,
I have a Netgear Orbi RBR50 and for some reason even though I am only 15' away from the satelite (slave) on my 3rd floor, my work PC (running Win10) appears to always connect to the master that is located on the first floor +40' away. Consequently my speed is only 30 mbps on my PC, however, when I check my iPhone/iPad right next to my PC, they clearly connect to the satelite on the third floor as they are connected at 230 mbps.
Is there a way to "force" my PC to default connect to my third floor satelite? Can I go into the Orbi settings and "force" my PC to default to my 3rd floor satelite. I understand that is going against the point of a Mesh network, but Win 10 is not so great.
Any tips would really be appreciated, thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no way to "force" the ORBI to accept a device on a specific satellite or router. As you mentioned, that defeats the purpose of a mesh system. You could try telling your Windows 10 device to forget the network then reconfigure the WiFi on your device while you're sitting close to the satellite you wish to tie it too. This may only work temporarily or not at all. Good Luck!

Yes, you are correct, it works temporarily but whenever I sleep or restart the PC it locks back onto the weaker signal. Perhaps Microsoft can advise a method to fix this in their settings.

Yes the signal will be reduced.
Ensure the wifi adapter drivers are up to date on the PC.

Try turning down the power output of the RBRs wifi radios from 100% to 50% and see if this changes anything. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings
FYI, for the most part, it's up to the connecting device to pick and choose where they connect to based on signal, noise and environment.

What are the negative impacts of reducing the wifi radios to 50%? (I assume that means that the overall range of the wifi signal within the house will then go down by 50?)
