Display name of Device connected to Orbi Satellite RBS50 is UNKNOWN & Link Rate : N/A

I have 1 Router RBR50 connected to 3 Satellite RBS50 with Firmware version V2.3.5.34 on router and all Satellite.

Recently after updating the firmware to V2.7.2.104 I was observed 2 major issues.

  1. Devices connected to router has proper Device Name while connected to the router, However the same device if it connected to Satellite the Display Name appears UNKNOWN.
  2. From the Orbi App > Device Manager > when I click Device connected to Satellite. In the device details Connection Type, IP Address, MAC Address , Link Rate. The link rate display as N/A and when the same device is connected to router the link rate is proper based on the 2.4 or 5 GgHz. Connection status.

After all attempt, Factory reset, Hard Reset with paper clip and what not, I restored the firmware back to V2.3.5.34 and everything found to be working as before.

 

It will be good to conclude Orbi New Firmware V2.7.2.104 has a bug? Anyone observed or facing similar issue?

    Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

      Yes, very much. 

      I am struggling with this for long now. So i did factory reset before and after upgrade too for router and all 3 satellites.

        Something to contact NG support about. They need to address this issue. Seems to be on going for a while now.

    Yes. Same issue. Annoying.  Poor quality control.

  • Dear Friends,

     

    We have Good News and we should appriciate Netgear Product support team considered the issue rasied and helped to resolve the Link Rate status for device connected over Satellite with the latest  prodcution fimware release Version 2.7.3.22

     

    I am happy with the new version so far and provide also my feedback to support team.

     

    Only one last thing which i have observed is, if you connect the satellte over web interface (IP Address) the device name appears " UnKnown" however in the mobile app the device name appears coorectly.

     

    Hope the team will resolve this in the next upcoming releases.  

     

    Update your router and Satellite firmware and share your view if any. Till then Bye and stay Safe :)
