Orbi Blocking my IMAP server

I cannot connect to my email provider imap.onebox.com on any device on the wifi or LAN. I can ping it no problem. If i connect directly to cable modem i can retrieve emails on laptop. Same with phone if I turn off wifi and go cellular.

I have defaulted Orbi and power cycled cable modem to no avail.

I have also tried to add a service  via security>block services>allow>and added imap port 143.

also added https 443.

Firmware is current V2.3.5.26

 any ideas????

Opening a port is for when there is a host connected to the Orbi that should be available to access from the internet.  Orbi does not restrict connections to the internet.  I just checked my Orbi.  Not only can I "ping", but I can also connect to the IMAP server, which says that it is:

What email application is being used, on what platform (Windows, Mac, Android?)

Does this Orbi have Disney Circle or Bitdefender Armor activated?

I probably did not make clear that using telnet is an "Old Guy Trick" because telnet allows specifying the "port".
By default, telnet listens on port 23, but since the user can set software up any way they please, the telnet client will attempt to connect to whatever port the user enters.  Is there an smtp server?  telnet to port 25, and if it answers then yes.  An ftp server?  telnet to port 21.

In this case, for an imap server, telnet to port 143 by adding 143 to the end of the command.

I no longer have Outlook 2010 (I had it before upgrading), and my Roadrunner email account used IMAP successfully on every Outlook since the early 2000's.

If you already tried to telnet to port 143 and it failed, then this is very strange.

I did not see whether Disney Circle or Bitdefender Armor are activated?

Re: Orbi Blocking my IMAP server

Definitely fails on port 143,with Orbi conectted however its also fails on port 25 using smtp.onebox.com.  (Comcast blocking????)

But, if i bypass (direct to cable modem) the Orbi, i can retrieve email and send emails. But im using port 465 for SMTP which just gives a blank screeen when telneting.

C:\Users\XXXX>telnet smtp.onebox.com 25
Connecting To smtp.onebox.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port 25: Connect failed

C:\Users\XXXX>telnet smtp.onebox.com 25
Connecting To smtp.onebox.com...Could not open connection to the host, on port 2
5: Connect failed

C:\Users\XXXX>telnet smtp.onebox.com 465

I do not use the either Disney Circle or Bitdefender Armor, did the trial of  Armor wheni first got router, but did not sign up.

Re: Orbi Blocking my IMAP server

Alas, I fear my "Old Guy Tricks" are fading out.  Almost all of the new email services, such as Google, use SSL connections and telnet cannot connect.

How about this for a test:  Try to connect to any other well-known email services.  I can reach these two:

telnet smtp.mail.com 25

telnet smtp.roadrunner.com 25

If you can reach either of these two, that (sort of) points toward OneBox.com as the problem.

If you cannot reach either of these two, I would be tempted to perform a "Factory Reset" and reconfigure and not activate Disney Circle or Bitdefender Armor until after getting email to work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMw4ePACgc4

Re: Orbi Blocking my IMAP server

Ok, just checking to be sure there is no router there. You should be good up and thru the Orbi router though.
