GS724TPV2 randomly losing access to web interface
Hello Netgear community,
We have a strange issue with our GS724TPV2 switches.
We recently upgraded our switches to V2 and made some changes including enabling loop protection and storm controls.
We are now experiencing intermittent issues where we lose access to the web interface. The switch also does not respond to pings. Rebooting it restores access.
This sometimes coincides with random end user devices not working (loop/storm controls shutting down ports?), but usually the switch seems to work as expected.
Netgear support said it could be corrupt firmware but this issue seems to be occuring on all the switches including our newer stock which were V2 out of the box.
I have tried factory resetting and downgrading to earlier V2 firmware also.
Please see attached image for an example of some of our storm controls, we do not enable any protections on our management ports.
Are there any known issues with Storm Controls?
Regards,
Ash
Resolved by installing this firmware update: GS724TPv2 / GS724TPP Firmware Version 2.0.8.17 - NETGEAR Support
Bug fix:
- Fixes an issue that the system may freeze when accessing device migrates frequently from port to port. For example, wireless client roaming from one wireless AP to another AP that are connected to different ports on the same switch.
Tad annoying how Netgear support basically said it was my setup and/or the way I patched my switches. One year of 30+ switches randomly locking up is not fun!
Anyway hope this helps someone.

Thank you! Will try it for sure. Since my reply, i was forced to revert back to my old setup as the disconnecting was really annoying. I will install the update and see if it works. Since it works for you, I hope it does to for me. Anyway, again, thank you for taking the time to post the possible solution in this old thread!!
