GS728TPPv2 Fan speed (idle)

Hello NETGEAR Community,

i just set up a GS728TPPv2 in my Office. I need some POE ports and have a long history using NETGEAR Products so i buy a GS728TPPv2.

What should be the idle speed of the FAN? My FAN is a constant on 5000rpm. The Switch is in idle only one port is connected and no traffic just on PC for remote control.

In operation i cooncet around 12 Devices and 4 POE with max 20WATT in use.

The Fan is very loud and i want to understand if i can reduce the speed.

The Switch temperature is max 23c

Thanks for support and tipps,

Best Regards
Jaroslaw Kucharski

@MacJK,

Thank you for your reply.

I inquired this to the higher tier of NETGEAR Support and got a feedback.  According to them, that is the normal operation.

About the loud fan noise, as per the higher tier of NETGEAR Support, the fan speed responds automatically as required based on changes in temperature.  If the fans are spinning at a high rate, it would be best for the GS728TPPv2 to get cooler air flowing through it in order to reduce the fan speed.

Also, there is no option to manually reduce the fans speed of the GS728TPPv2.  You may post this as feature request in the Idea Exchange for Business board here

Welcome to the community! 🙂

Kindly answer the questions below:

a. What is the behavior of the FAN LED light on your GS728TPPv2?

b. What is the current firmware version of your GS728TPPv2?

Kindly post a screenshot of the Fan Status when you login to the web-GUI of the GS728TPPv2.
