How do I configure VLAN with Netgear GS308E and Edge RouterX

Hello,

I am trying to figure out how to configure VLANs on Netgear GS308E to work with Ubiquity Edge Router X. My current setup (as in the diagram) has two access points. AP1 is connected directly to the router and issues correct IP addresses for VLAN 1 (LAN) and VLAN 10 (Guest network). However, AP2 is connected via the Netgear switch. Through this AP, I can get IP address for VLAN 1 only. Guest connections are not issued any IP addresses.

I know that I need to configure VLANs on the Netgear switch. However, I can't seems to find any clear instructions on how to do that for this switch. Web GUI seems to show 4 different things you can configure under the VLAN menu.

Thank you for any help or pointers you can offer.

For complex 802.1q VLANs configs use VLAN -> 802.1Q -> Advanced only.

Add VLAN 10, 20, and 30 to the VLAN config.

For the uplink port and the AP port, add VLAN 10, 20, and 30 as [T]agged.

Thank you @schumaku . Do I need to configure anything in the "Port PVID" section?

There is an untagged VLAN ID 1, so PVID must be set to 1, too - otherwise your primary network (also the management network of the other vendor devices) will no longer work.

Hi @schumaku,

Thanks for coming back quickly. I have done the config but for some reason, I am still not getting IP address for VLAN 10 (that's the only one I am testing right now). I have attached screenshots of the config. I can still get IP address for VLAN 1. Any ideas?

Thank you.

LAN 10, 20, and 30 are configured for tagged usage on port 7 (AP?) and 8 (router).

Your job to figure out on how this must be configured on the Ubiquity devices. They are hiding the thech facts - not Negear.

@schumaku  Thank you for all your help. Got it working.

Router and AP both were already configured for all VLANs in the relevant ports. Had the cables in the switch in port 6,7 instead of 7,8, huh!Man Embarassed

Much appreciated. Smiley Happy
