Crestron Officially Certifies NETGEAR M4300 Switches

large-SMB_ARTICLE_CRESTRON_2020-3-17_COMM.jpg

This is big news!  Our M4300 switches have already been deployed with Crestron® DM NVX® encoders & decoders already, but now Crestron's team has officially certified the M4300 switches for Crestron DM NVX to ensure full compatibility.  This provides integrators and consultants the peace of mind to know that this Crestron + NETGEAR solution will work out of the box.

I think that's one of the key points to make here - you do not need a configuration file to make this work.  Most other switches require a special configuration file that you have to log in to either Crestron's site or the manufacturer's site, download, then log in to the switch and upload.  And hope all of that goes without any hiccups.

Not so with NETGEAR's M4300 series switches for Crestron DM NVX functionality.  Just plug everything in and turn on the switch.

We are here to make your AV over IP life easier!

Re: Crestron Officially Certifies NETGEAR M4300 Switches

Has the firmware been modified to increase the PoE capabilities to support the power requirements of the NVX?

Re: Crestron Officially Certifies NETGEAR M4300 Switches

Thanks for the question.  The M4300 series switches supply PoE+ power of 30W per port and I see from the specs that the DM-NVX-350 requires 35W.  I would check back in a few months to see about another option in the NETGEAR AV Line of switches.

Re: Crestron Officially Certifies NETGEAR M4300 Switches

The 300 series of NVX needs PoE++ or UPoE

The 30 series requires PoE+

Has the firmware been changed to enhance the PoE powers to support the power needs of the NVX?

Re: Crestron Officially Certifies NETGEAR M4300 Switches

The availability of IEEE 802.3bt-2018  aka. PoE++ vs802.3at Po+ isn't  a firmware thing alone, the hardware does define Athe amount of power available to each switch port. Firmware updates can't cause a switch to provide more  power.

Certainly, Netgear has switches available (M4250/M4300 Series) which can provide the PoE++ required.

What model  do you have in mind?
