NETGEAR IGMP Plus Whitepaper
What is NETGEAR IGMP Plus™?
NETGEAR’s AV Line M4250, M4300 and M4500 fully-managed switches provide a unique feature called IGMP Plus. This feature greatly simplifies system architectures by enabling the same well-known IGMP techniques across the entire AV over IP (AVoIP) network. In a nutshell, IGMP Plus is an enhanced implementation for automatic multicast across a Layer 2 multicast network.
Why is NETGEAR IGMP Plus Important?
NETGEAR IGMP Plus provides ProAV network engineers with an effortless implementation of a Layer 2 multicast network. With other switching vendors, the process of configuring a ProAV multicast VLAN requires many IGMP commands to be entered via the command line which introduces the possibility of user error due to the complexity

Re: NETGEAR IGMP Plus Whitepaper
Hi c_b,
The M4300 and M4500 has the IGMP-plus commands in the latest firmware release. Please keep in mind that the single (CLI) command is to configure IGMP and the other IGMP options on the specified configured VLAN.
igmp-plus<vlan-id> This command enables IGMP enhancements for the specified VLAN to support audio and video devices in an SDVoE environment.
Format igmp-plus<vlan-id>
no igmp-plus<vlan-id>
Default igmp-plus 1
Mode Global Config
Thanks,
Randy

Re: NETGEAR IGMP Plus Whitepaper
The IGMP+ command doesn't work on the latest version, 12.0.9.4. Which version supports the command?
Thanks.

Re: NETGEAR IGMP Plus Whitepaper
Hi c_b,
Sorry for the confusion. Currently, only the M4500 has the 'igmp-plus <VLAN ID>' command and it available in the latest release (7.0.0.16).
Please see the command reference for the M4500:
https://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/M4500/M4500_CLI_EN.pdf
The M4300 with the current release (12.0.9.4), does not contain the 'igmp-plus <VLANID>' command. With version 12.0.9.3 contains enhancements for IGMP commands. Below is the enhancement and new commands:
Enhancements to IGMP for M4300 for 12.0.9.3 (https://kb.netgear.com/000061381/M4300-Firmware-Version-12-0-9-3😞
- IGMP Snooping enhancement so that NETGEAR switches can be used as a plug-and-play for audio and video applications.
1. set igmp flood-report
2. set igmp exclude-mrouter-intf
3. set igmp fast-leave auto-assignment
The ETA for the command 'igmp-plus <VLAN ID>' on the M4300 is set to be released in 2 weeks (12.0.11.x).
We'll provide a link to the new image when available.
Thanks.

Re: NETGEAR IGMP Plus Whitepaper
Great whitepaper but I would love to know where the information is based on that you need 14 steps to configure IGMP in a GigaCore 26i as this is enabled by deafault?

It's not about "just2 enabling IGMP. There is a Cisco-like sample config shown above the table. hard to imagine this is already there in place.

Re: NETGEAR IGMP Plus Whitepaper
By default, in every group/vlan already available in the switches (20 are pre-made for you) the IGMP querier and snooping are enabled by default. The global settings have IGMP unknown flooding enabled so all you would have to do is disable this or disable it in a group which will not take 14 commands hence why I would love to know where that number is comming from?
