WAX202
I bought this router on 25th August 2022 and it has a hardware problem. The wifi keeps on dropping while the ethernet might continue to work. This has been happening since day 1 but realized that router is the issue only recently. Need to return and Office Max won't take it . I have two routers -- one is open that I used and it is a defective product and the other is Packed that I did not open at all and want to return that as well.

Alternate advise would be firmware update, or an update of the wireless adapter drivers so .ax would be recognized. Another idea would be to change the channel(s) in use of this AP, the neighboring APs and nearby other users of the limited 2.4 and 5 GHz channel space for non-Wi-Fi applications.

I would constantly have download and upload speeds crash to near 0 before returning to normalcy. During the experience my devices would not disconnect from the wifi and reconnect - just the throughput would be nearly anything. However, my web browser download speeds, plex, and other file transfer apps would see it the behavior.
I was able to resolve it by disabling the Smart Connect feature within the devices. It was long process of disabling every "feature" for basic connectivity, and enabling more and more over days. This one feature discovered back in the fall turned out to be the culprit.
