Web access to ReadyNAS NV+ V2 ?
Hi All,
Please could someone advise on how to set up access to my own personal web site on my ReadyNAS?
I have a shares directory on the ReadyNAS set up with full access on all protocols for my user name. Here is what I have set up:
- On router dynamic DNS server through no-ip.com
- On router I have set the ReadyNAS to a fixed host (specific IP address)
- On router set port forwarding for ports 80 & 443 to ReadyNAS
When I use a web browser to try and access the ReadyNAS share via http://<dns name>/<ReadyNAS share name>/ I get the familiar 404 error to say it is not found.
I know the dns is working as I can access the ReadyNAS dashboard via http://<dns name>/admin. Also I am able to use ftp on the share(es) with ftp://<DNS name>/<ReadyNAS share name>/ .
I think I must be missing something very basic, any ideas?
I did install the Owncloud add-on for the ReadyNAS, but cannot figure out how to connect this via the internet, (and I tried quite a few things). I suspect the problems are related.
Any advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Hello greensld,
Where did you get the OwnCloud app? It may be best to ask the developer of the app.

If you simply forwarded ports 80 and 443, one possibility is that your ISP blocks them, as running your own web site is often a TOS violation for a residential account. In those caases, the use of an alternate port is the usual work-around.
- greensldAspirantHi JennC,
Got Owncloud working. Turns out I just needed an up to date version. Seems you can still download old versions.
Now just need to figure out why I can't access my web pages through the internet to the ReadyNAS.
Many thanks. - greensldAspirantThanks Sandshark,
I will have a go with other ports, though I would have thought if these standard ports were totally blocked I would have trouble getting to the dashboard, (admin screen), of the NAS, but that works. Just cannot access any of the shares.
Have also tried to set a share up that has no security for http or any protocol, but still got the same 404 error.

I agree that if you can get o the admin page, you should be able to get to the share pages.
Can you access them locally as http://<NAS IP address>/<sharename>? If not, make sure you have HTTP access turned on for the NAS and for the share.
