Eratic behaviour, when using backslash instead of slash
This is a readyNAS Du with newest software release: 4.1.7
I defined a backup job for the c-drive to external USB on the front and defining "Backup\Monday" as the destination path.
The effect: If the Backup directory exists on the destination drive, it seems to work. But you never ever will find any data in "Backup\Monday". Either the data is vanishing alltogether, or, if you are lucky, you'll find a new directory on the external drive with a random name, which contains the data of the backup.
Soo, don't be sure about your backups as long as you don't have tested them!
And in fact, I would expect, FrontView to tell me about its inability to use "\" instead of "/"

Good practice is to check to make sure the backup is completed in it's entirety on the first full backup. You should be able to use the test connection to verify if a path is valid or not.

Of course, I did a check after the backup, otherwise I would not have noticed the error. And then, the backup did finish, and with a bit of search, you would find all the backup data, but with this behaviour, it would be very, very tricky to get your data back. And then, the test connection in this case would not do anything, because both, source and destination are on the same box: Destination is on an USB disk.
I got somewhat further: If one sees a random directory name, you'll see the mangled 8.3 format windows "real" name. If you are connecting this to a windows machine, you'll find a directory in root with the name "backup\monday" where the backslash is part of the directory name and not a hierarchy separator. Or course, the readny nas software is linux based and hence, they are able to produce this name, but in a windows environment, this name is simply illegal and you have no chance to open such a directore at all!
So, the problem is definately a bug, because the backup software is producing illegal directory names.
So please thing a bit before posting an answer. Nothing from your post is related to the original post and anything you are postet is known at this end. Very unhelpful indeed.
