Setting up a fixed IP address
Hello everybody,
Not sure this is the right place to post this thread, but I am very bothered by the fact that my Netgear Ready Nas Uktra 2 keeps changing his internal IP address so the software I made to auto mount a folder for back purposes with Time Machine needs to be re-edited often to change the ip address. Is there a way to force the NAS to have a single IP address on the internal lan? Or a way to set-up a connection to the NAS alias instead of using the ip address on my OSX Lion? Sorry but I am quite new to the apple world and it's my first Mac
Thanks a lot
Alessandro

- StephenBGuru - Experienced User-you can certainly set up a fixed address on the ReadyNAS. One way is to configure a static address on the NAS; most routers also let you reserve an address in the router. This second way is better if your router does it.
-You should also be able to connect to your NAS by name. I don't have a Mac though, so I am not experienced with configuring Time Machine.
