I noticed that my on my switches, I had the wrong time and the wrong year. It was showing 1970. I have the correct time and year on my switches now thanks to Google public NTP.
Just wondering, why is it important to keep the time correct on the switches?

Hi tantony,
There are some network administrators that always check the logs that came from the switch in order to monitor their network and the timestamp for that is very important. But if they do have a syslog server or other monitoring tool like SNMP then the time from the switch doesn't matter anymore.
