Can't get wg311v3 smart wizard to open

I have installed wg311v3 card on a Win 7 pro64 PC that used to be connected to Ehternet.  I need to use it as a second computer on my network and it's away from the Ethernet and router.

I installed the card according to setup instructions, making sure that the software was insatlled before plugging in the card.  When I plug the card in and start my computer the setup instructions says that a smart wizard should appear.  It doesn't.  I have a netgear smart wizard icon on my desktop.  Clicking on that doesn't start the wizard either.

What do I do from here to get the computer on my wireless network?

    Hi lbeck02,

    Welcome to Community!

What software version did you use to install the adapter? Please check support.netgear.com for drivers to use.

  • Same problem here, trying to install WG311v3 on a Dell Optiplex gx240, Pentium 4 with 1MB RAM running 32 bit Windows XP.  I have tried Netgear's versions 3.1 and 5.0.0.3.  The Netgear software seems to install OK in computer without the WiFi card.  Power down, install card, power back up.  Windows hardware detect fails because can't find some file it's looking for.  Cancel out of that and click on "NETGEAR WG311v3 Smart Wizard".  Short burst of activity, then nothing.  The wizard doesn't actually open.

      Hi LADave,

When installing the adapter, disable first anti virus or firewall. Also please try to install he standalon driver instead of the driver with the genie. Check on device manager if the adapter is being detected under network adapters.
