Desktop says turn on wirelelss capability

Hello I need help. My wifi adapter is failing. Right now i'm on network connections and the Wifi adapter shows but its not connected. You hit diagnose and it says turn on wireless capability. But it's a desktop. And it doesn't have a built in wifi. That's why i had to buy the adapter. There is no switch on the front or sie of the pc. Or fn keys to allow wireless capability. Wireless capability is turned off. EVen at the bottom right where it shows network and internet settings and under it you see wifi, airplane mode. right click on wifi and hit settings. Click on to turn wifi. But at the bottom right it still says wifi turned off.

Already tried uninstalling and reinstalling and trying different usb ports.

Is that (top right here) Network and Internet Settings? Is there anything there in Show Available Networks?

Have you run the "Troubleshoot Problems" wizard?

    What do you see here:

    Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections
