Driver Problems with MA311 Wireless Adapter

I have a Windows 7 desktop and I have been trying to install an MA311 Wireless Adapter.  I went to the Netgear website and downloaded both of the PDFs and both of the adapters for the device.  On my first attempt to install it, I missed the part of the instructions where it said that you're supposed to leave the adapter out of the PC when installing the driver, so that might've damaged something, but I'm not sure.  Later I tried doing it the right way, and to do that I was trying to uninstall everything, but it wouldn't let me.  I don't really have a clue what's going on with it, but the two things that I can think of are 1 it's for an older OS and 2 I broke it.

    What is Windows telling you?

Many devices don't need any drivers other than those that are built into windows.

Have you tried using the thing?
